Waterwood – Sustainable Wood with a Past
Waterwood breathes new life into history by reclaiming premium softwood and hardwood from the historic waterworks of the Netherlands and surrounding regions. Each piece is carefully salvaged and transformed into something extraordinary — wood with a story, a responsible origin, and timeless character.
From elegant façade cladding and sturdy picnic tables to viaduct panels and exclusive corporate gifts, Waterwood offers limitless possibilities. Every creation carries the marks of its past, combining craftsmanship, durability, and authenticity.
Choosing Waterwood means choosing sustainability, heritage preservation, and unique materials that stand apart from the ordinary. Here, history and quality go hand in hand — ready to inspire your next project.
Circular Chain Project
Waterwood works in partnership with a network of forward-thinking companies, leading the way in the circular wood economy. Together, we rethink, repurpose, and revitalise reclaimed wood, transforming it into something truly remarkable. Every piece carries its own story — a history to honour, a future to shape, and a positive impact to make.
Social Return On Investment (SROI)
Through our Social Return on Investment (SROI) commitment, we create meaningful employment opportunities for people who are distanced from the labour market.
SROI is more than an obligation in public tenders — it’s a chance to make a real difference. By working closely with social workshops, many of our products proudly carry the SROI label. This collaboration not only enriches our craftsmanship, but also opens the door for individuals to build valuable skills and secure purposeful work.
With Waterwood, companies can meet their business objectives while actively contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable society.
Certified
Our wood is sourced primarily from reclaimed hardwood once used in old lock gates, mooring posts, and sheet piles. Renowned for its exceptional durability, this timber is perfectly suited to a wide range of applications.
After careful treatment and processing — along with thorough documentation in collaboration with the CityPort of Utrecht — each piece is certified with a unique label, guaranteeing its origin and quality.
