Testing of Quick Release Towing Hooks
At Straatman, safety and reliability come first. Every quick release towing hook is thoroughly tested at our facility using a calibrated 3,500 kN hydraulic testing machine.
For our disc-type towing hooks (GSH and BG-7 models), we perform a rigorous test at 200% of the Safe Working Load (SWL). The GSH-100 model is tested at 150% of the SWL. In addition, each hook undergoes a release performance test at its SWL to verify smooth and reliable operation of the release mechanism.
Clients may also request independent witnessing of these tests by any classification authority.
Once testing is complete, we provide both factory and witness test certificates, included with the user manual and construction file—ensuring you have full documentation and certification for your towing hooks.
Specials
Alongside our standard range of quick release towing hooks, we offer tailor-made solutions to meet your unique requirements.
With in-house engineering and production, we can quickly and efficiently respond to special requests—delivering customized designs with precision and reliability.
In partnership with one of our strategic collaborators, we recently developed a hydraulic-powered shock absorber, specially designed for our smaller towing hooks.
As shown in the image, we also engineered and produced the integrated foundations, built to be welded directly onto the tugboat deck—ensuring seamless installation and durability.
Quick Release Towing Hook – Type GMH
Our GMH model quick release mooring hook is designed with versatility in mind. Depending on your project’s requirements and design details, it can also function as a quick release towing hook. To enable this dual use, the GMH comes standard with a rope keeper.
